💬Opinion of the week: Are we doing ourselves injustice by skipping the cool down? 

Let’s be real: by the time 8:30 rolls around, most of us are ready to bounce, either heading off to grab food with our buddies or returning home to the sweet, sweet, comfort of our beds. Unlike warming up (I mean, have ya’ll seen Joseph do his pre-game stretches? Man’s dedicated.), cooling down doesn’t even seem to be in our vocabulary . 

But we might actually be doing ourselves a big disservice by not cooling down. 

Research shows that you might actually be at a higher risk of a heart attack if you don’t take the appropriate time to cool down, which is something I’m pretty sure most of us really don’t want. And you know those cramps in your legs you get after a particularly intense session? Yep, you guessed it- it’s because all of us skip that crucial cool-down, which can even lead to long-term injuries if the aches and pains go unchecked. 

Unfortunately, a lot of us make the mistake of assuming that it’s the equipment that matters when it comes to sports. Though our sexy Bread and Butter paddles and swanky shoes are certainly pretty cool, it’s actually our bodies’ physical abilities that are the most vital to playing the game. Everything else is just an extra benefit. 

Injuries = no play time = 😞, so let’s take care of ourselves ya?
